Former President Theodore Roosevelt dies in his sleep at his home in Oyster Bay, New York. The bold three-column headline reads: “DEATH CAME SUDDENLY TO COLONEL ROOSEVELT.” Roosevelt, the hero of San Juan Hill, was but sixty years of age. The front page contains a superb bust photograph, details of his life, the funeral services, and more.’
Another interesting article refers to a growing Communist threat in America. “THE BOLSHEVIST CROWD GROWING,” talks about the Justice Department’s watching Lenin-Trotsky type groups. Part of a heading reads: “….the Red Element Will Be Fought Energetically Wherever It Manifests Itself in This Country.”
